Winterlude

“This winter, go out and enjoy a great winter experience in Saskatoon! The National Ice-Carving Championship is happening in all ten Canadian provinces as part of Winterlude 2022. You can see all the sculptures on the Winterlude website starting February 11 and vote for your three favourites to win! Go discover these incredible works of art and be sure to vote before the deadline on February 20!”

—The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage

The 44th Winterlude will take place from February 4 to 21, 2022.

Ice sculptures are the stars of Winterlude! Even in virtual mode, the 2021 national competition was a huge  success with over 30,000 votes cast online. On February 5 and 6, 2022, you can enjoy these masterpieces in person during the Winterlude National Ice Carving Championship. Ten experienced ice carving teams, representing all 10 Canadian provinces, will compete simultaneously. They will have 20 hours to carve 15 blocks of ice and create a work of art inspired by the theme ‘’Olympic and Paralympic Spirit,’’ a nod to the 2022 Winter Games.

Representing Saskatchewan – Tourism Saskatoon and WinterShines have been pleased to partner with Winterlude and Heritage Canada to present a Saskatchewan Entry from Saskatoon. Please visit the Winterlude website to see photos and vote for our entry into the competition. See photos below.

Vote for your favorite ice carving! Between February 11 and 20, 2022, cast your vote online. The 3 winning sculptures will be selected through online voting by the public. Your participation is therefore essential and we’re counting on you!
